WHO ARE WE?

First Christian Church in Monrovia, California is a fellowship of believers who have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, and wear no name but Christian. We wear the name Christian in the same sense that the Disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

We believe that Christ is the Head of His Church, and therefore every Christian is a member of His Body. We do not believe that we are the only Christians, but we earnestly strive to be Christians only. We attempt to speak where the Bible speaks and to remain silent where the Bible is silent. We take the Bible and the Bible alone as our only rule of faith and practice.

We are committed to maintaining unity in the essentials, to allowing freedom in matters of opinion, and demonstrating love in all things.

We are committed to the word of God. Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh, the Living Word, and we are committed to Him. We are also committed to the Bible as the inspired, inerrant revelation from God. We are committed to the fulfillment of the Great Commission (Matt.28:18-20) which demands that we "make disciples of all nations") We welcome all who share these convictions to join with us in fellowship.
